You can now apply to run projects backed by the latest and final round of European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) funding.

NEW FUNDING ALERT | You can now apply for the final round of ERDF funding

The calls were announced last week (28th June 2019) in the first major roll-out of ERDF funding calls since October 2018.

ERDF supports research and innovation, small to medium sized enterprises and the creation of a low carbon economy.

There are currently 132 calls open under the fund with a combined value of £600 million. It includes funding for projects offering business support and those aiding research and innovation, as well as projects tackling issues around climate change, the environment and low carbon.

ERDF is part of the England 2014 to 2020 European Structural and Investment Fund (ESIF), which also includes money from the European Social Fund (ESF) and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) to help local areas grow.

While the current programme finishes at the end of 2020, projects can continue to run until the end of 2023. Any remaining funds leftover will be put into a nationally operated central Reserve Fund, with a small number of further calls anticipated in 2020.

These final ERDF funding calls will be a valuable opportunity for the Third Sector to tap into European Funding streams before the current programme ends in 2020. For anyone thinking about exploring funding for the first time, this is also an important chance get in the loop about the funding process before we see new legacy funds come in.

The deadline for bids is 30th September 2019.
