The rise of economic inactivity among people in their 50s and 60s

The Institute for Fiscal Studies reports there has been a rise in the rate of economic inactivity among older people – neither in work or actively searching for work – since the COVID-19 pandemic started.

The report looks at the range of potential reasons why this may be, such as higher levels of redundancies, health reasons, or even early retirement
