British Standards Institution Net Zero Barometer

Following the launch of the Government’s Ten Point Plan for a Green Industrial Revolution in November 2020, the British Standards Institution (BSI) present their analysis of UK businesses transition to producing net zero emissions by 2050.

Small businesses account for half of business-related emissions and survey findings show just one in five have committed to a net zero target.

While the report states there is a strong desire to achieve net zero targets and understanding of the concept is growing, there is still the need for more awareness and guidance of what is needed, plus the costs involved are barriers to realizing the target. In addition, 68% surveyed say plans have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The report recommends several steps organisations can take to prepare and help businesses to achieve net zero.
